The Sedona Main Street
Program nominates the Sedona Main Street Programs’ Shopping and Business
Directory for Best Promotional Materials. The birth of the first ever
Sedona Shopping and Business Directory was created, researched,
designed, by the Sedona Main Street Promotion Committee. This Committee
oversaw all aspects of its creation and sought out funding, with
involvement of public and stakeholder input.
The Promotions Committee
developed a directory that would benefit the entire Sedona Main Street
Program District and the businesses that are lucky enough to be within
its boundaries. This gave credence to our Program, by providing vital
information to visitors and community stakeholders. The SMSP discusses
ways to create an awareness of our Program and our Promotion Committee
has done that successfully with this Directory. This Directory Program
image-building, membership benefits (SMSP Members and Benefactors are
highlighted with bold listings), business retention, retail promotion,
and economic development.
Many maps and business
directories exist in the Sedona Community, but all identify their
members and advertisers only. Our Promotions Committee developed this
directory to identify our district as a whole, and every stakeholder as
a result! This first ever directory, puts the SMSP District Businesses
on the map for all 4 million visitors to see!
The SMSP Promotions
Committee was awarded its Request for Reimbursement from the Arizona
Main Street Program in September 2003. The committee issued press
releases to announce the project and its development.
All 308 stakeholders
were contacted and asked to choose one of the forty categories that best
described their type of business. They confirmed the site address and
contact telephone number for shoppers to use. After
countless design review meetings,
draft and feedback cycles, and detail proofing the Committee fulfilled
all the requirements to produce the first edition of the Shopping &
Business Directory & Map.
This SMSP Directory is
user friendly in size and design, helping millions of visitors
by providing immediate information.
They can match their personal time and individual preferences with
available shopping, accommodations, dining, activities and events
provided within the Sedona Main Street District.
The Directory displays
the unity of the district as a destination!
Sedona Main Street
Program nominates this Shopping and Business Directory for Best
Promotional Material because it shows the who, what, when, where and why
of our Program and every business in our District.
