ARIZONA main street award nominations

 

Arizona Main Street has recognized and presented Main Street Communities throughout Arizona with awards since 1992. The four awards categories relate to the Main Street Four-Point approach, and there are twelve (12) awards for 2005.

 

The Sedona Main Street Program is proud and honored to announce the following twenty-four nominations submitted to the 2005 Arizona Main Street Awards:

 

Shirley Tolley for Main Street Individual of the Year; Hands Through History & Hyatt PiÑon Pointe for Best Public/Private Partnership; Sedona Center Concierge, Bus Lounge and Parking for Best Economic Restructuring Story; ARROYO ROBLE VILLAGE SHOPS & The Sun Building for Best New Building Project; SMSP District Shopping and Business Directory & Hours of Operation for Best Promotional Materials;

Sedona Center Eco Trail, Red Rock Fantasy of Lights & Sedona Arts and Heritage Days for Best Special Event; Takashi Court, Uptown Mall courtyard and Nestle Toll House café by Chip for Best Large Scale Renovation project ($75k and up); Cheers, Turquoise Buffalo, & Oaxaca Restaurante and Cantina for Best Medium Scale Renovation project ($25k-$75k); Cottage Gallery, Gifts and Garden for Best Small Scale Renovation project (under $25K); Hummingbird House and Sedona Forest Ranger Station for Best Historic Preservation Project; RED ROCKS and the cowboy artist, Hyatt PiÑon Pointe Historical Plaques and Institute of Eco Tourism for Best Public Improvement-Projects funded with private dollars for public benefit;

RED ROCKS and the cowboy ARTIST for Best Public Improvement-Improvements made to public spaces.          

 

Sedona Main Street Program is one of the seventeen (17) Main Street Communities in Arizona under Lisa Henderson’s (Arizona Department of Commerce, Arizona Main Street Program Director) direction. Each community has the opportunity to submit nominations. All nominations are evaluated and voted upon by a selected panel of impartial judges.

 

Finalists are expected to be announced by August 5, in anticipation of the Awards Ceremony during Governor’s Rural Development Conference (August 17th through 19th in Oro Valley). Finalist will be recognized and presented awards on Thursday August 18th. Winners will be recognized and presented awards by Governor Napolitano during the Governor’s Luncheon at the conference on Friday, August 19th.

 

Sedona Main Street Program has been honored with finalists and winners of the Annual Arizona Main Street Awards each year since 1997. Sedona Main Street Program invites you to read the nominations on their web-site www.sedonamainstreet.com .
