Sedona’s
Holiday Tree Lighting & Santa Visit kicks off the holiday season on
December 2nd. Entertainment, activities and refreshments will
be available free of charge from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Taos Cantina Plaza
on State Route 89A in Uptown.
Come join in
holiday carols performed by the Canyon Singers, as generously arranged
by Sandra Reid. Then Mayor Rob Adams will light the 17’ holiday tree and
Santa will arrive on the Sedona’s Historic Fire Engine No. 1, courtesy
of Sedona Heritage Museum and a special escort by Sedona Police
Department.
While the
children tell Santa all their hopes and dreams, you’ll hear a wide
variety of complementary performances by talented community groups.
Enjoy the unique sounds of the Trash Pail Kids plus a wide array of
songs by the vocal students of Big Park & West Sedona Schools. These
include the Ambassadors of Peace from Israel, the Coyote Chorus from Big
Park Junior High, the Copper’s Crooners of Big Park Elementary and the
Wildcat Warblers from West Sedona Elementary, all generously coordinated
and directed by Jeanie Carroll. Then the Desert Star Community School
Choir will perform as arranged and directed by Deborah Williams,
followed by the Windsong Ensemble, an adult vocal group.
Sedona Chamber
of Commerce will provide complimentary Polaroid photos with Santa and
give each child a sack of treats. All
the while, you can enjoy hot cocoa courtesy of Black Cow Café and
Hitching Post Restaurant, hot coffee thanks to Pink Java Café, and
cookies courtesy of Sedona Fudge Company. Donations by these generous
business owners make it possible to provide free refreshments.
The seventeen
foot Giant Everest holiday tree was arranged and coordinated by Sedona
Main Street Program and made possible by the generosity of community
businesses.
This year, the
tree was set up and decorated by Sedona Main Street Program’s volunteers
from Sedona businesses and Sedona Red Rock High School business students
with Future Business Leaders of America coordinated by Marc Sterling,
with assistance from Sedona Center, Sedona Chamber and the City of
Sedona.
This free
family event is coordinated by Sedona Main Street Program, Sedona
Chamber of Commerce and the City of Sedona.
