The following is a brief
narrative on each of the free community events we coordinate:
March - Sedona St.
Patrick’s Day Parade, Festival & Road Race held on the Saturday just prior
to or on St Patrick’s Day. The event is presented by Sedona Main Street
Program, NAU
Parks
and Recreation Management Program and the Sedona Green Team. The parade starts at
10:30 a.m. from Jordan Historical Park and proceeds south on Jordan Road
to Mesquite Avenue. Parade entrants include dignitaries and civic, social,
cultural and religious organizations and businesses from the area. The
Festival begins immediately following the parade, featuring live
entertainment, free children’s and family activities, food vendors and, of
course, a Beer Garden until 3:00 p.m..
July - National Day of
the Cowboy Celebration in Uptown Sedona is held on the fourth Saturday in
July (as designated by Presidential Proclamation). Come enjoy “a whole lot
of cowboy goin’s on”! See live performances by world champion gunslingers,
trick ropers, bullwhip crackers and western actors. Listen or dance to
live western music. Watch traditional cowboy craftsmen demonstrations and
meet accomplished western artists at work. Join in the cowboy/girl outfit
contest for a chance to win prizes. Cheer on the American Cowboy Parade
entrants. This free community event is presented by Sedona Main Street
Program in partnership with “Rock Holliday” and area businesses.
Labor Day Weekend -
Moonlight Madness Sidewalk Sales in Main Street Sedona are held on
Saturday, Sunday and Monday of Labor Day long weekend. Many sidewalk sales
and activities are hosted by the merchants along State Routes 89A & 179
and side streets in downtown area and the event is coordinated by Sedona
Main Street Program.
October:
Paint Out on Main Street is the kick-off event for
Sedona
Art Center’s Plein Air Festival, scheduled for the last week of October.
It’s an opportunity to view nationally and locally recognized Plein Air
Artists altogether at one time along the sidewalks and plazas of
Main Street
(State Route 89A) in Uptown Sedona. They are challenged to complete a
painting in open air within 2 ½ hours in the late afternoon. This event is
sponsored by Sedona Main Street Program and is free to enjoy.
October 31: Safe & Fun
Trick or Treat in Uptown Sedona is held on Halloween eve from 5:00 to 8:00
p.m. Sedona Main Street Merchants welcome all good ghouls and ghosts to
visit their storefronts along State Route 89A in Uptown for little tricks
and great treats! These merchants have a longstanding tradition of good
will, providing this safe and fun Halloween celebration. This free
community event is coordinated by Sedona Main Street Program for a howling
good time.
December: Sedona’s
Holiday Tree Lighting & Santa Visit kicks off the holiday season on the
first Friday in December. Live entertainment, activities and refreshments
are available from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Orchards Plaza area on State
Route 89A in Uptown. Come hear holiday favorites from musical and
performing groups and let your youngsters tell Santa all their hopes and
dreams. All the while, you can enjoy complimentary hot beverages and
cookies. This free family event is presented by Sedona Main Street Program
with Sedona Chamber of Commerce and the City of Sedona.
